Joan

Liege, my lord, I ready stand,
a humble maiden, no man's wife,
to dedicate my heart and hand
your cause to serve with all my life.

O, liege, my lord, make use of me
and turn to see beneath the sun:
a host of angels follows me
to guard me till my work is done.

Beneath this plate a simple maid,
now suddenly I feel afraid.
Though everywhere they call my name,
yet in my dreams I die aflame.

O, Father, must I martyred be?
Is that the end you want for me?
Please tell me that it's not too late
for me to seek a different fate.

Liege, my lord, my time has come.
I care not what may me befall.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.
You fill me up, now take it all.
