This long-standing Columbia electronic band finally gets their CD out. Odor of Pears use equipment similiar to the electronica scene, but eschews the easily trend followed (sic) in favor of a different path. Dark minimalist sounds with a heavy emphasis on bass and seductively bleak vocals and the occasional crunch guitar (very rare). The result here seems to blend gothic, industrial early Peter Gabriel or Gary Numan into a form of gothic cabaret music with some of the darkest songs since Ultravox put out "Vienna." Probably one of the best CDs to emerge out of the gothic/industrial scene in a while. (BOONE)
